Special Mining License – SML

The Government is in the final stages of facilitating the acquisition of a Special Mining License (SML) for the Nyati Mineral Sand Company, owned by a joint venture between the Government of Tanzania and the Strandline Company, which will lead to the start of a large project of Tembo mining in Pangani District in Tanga Region.

This was stated today on February 20, 2024 by the Minister of Mines, Anthony Mavunde when he visited a part of the project located in the village of Stahabu, Mikinguni Ward in Pangani District- Tanga.

President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan has directed the Ministry of Mines to ensure that we facilitate the establishment of these large and strategic projects that will lead not only to the prosperity of our country’s economy, but to be a catalyst for the development and prosperity of the Pangani District and the citizens surrounding this project.
