South African soldiers killed in Eastern DRC

Two South African soldiers have been killed while three others were reportedly injured in an attack on one of their military bases in the DRC where they were sent to fight rebel groups. at the end of December last year.

The attack happened in the town of Sake, about 27 kilometers west of the town of Goma.

According to the information published on page X, the South African army has said that an investigation has begun in relation to the incident.

South African soldiers together with soldiers from Tanzania and Malawi are part of the Southern African mission in DR Congo (SAMIDRC), which was sent to help the government bring peace, security and stability to the eastern part of the country which is facing chaos.

Last Monday , South African president Cyril Ramaphosa ordered the deployment of 2,900 troops to the DRC.

Recent fighting in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo has displaced tens of thousands of people.
