Lebanon: Five Hezbollah fighters, including Ali al-Debs, killed in 24 hours.
At least five Hezbollah fighters and eleven civilians were killed in a 24-hour period in southern Lebanon in Israeli airstrikes. Hundreds of Shiite fighters have been killed or injured since fighting began on the Lebanese-Israel border on October 8. Among the three fighters killed on Wednesday in an Israeli attack in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, is Ali al-Debs. This high-ranking military officer was already injured a few days ago in the city, when his car was attacked by a drone in Nabatieh.
Hassan Nasrallah’s party has already lost around 190 fighters, including one of the top leaders of his al-Radwan elite force and two commanders. About 300 other fighters of the party were injured, including several seriously, in Israeli airstrikes.
This large number of victims within 24 hours shows the extent of the fighting in the Lebanese-Israeli war.
Unity of Nations has warned against what it called a “dangerous increase”. On Thursday, the spokesperson for the United Nations peacekeepers sent to southern Lebanon. Andrea Tenenti, has warned of “worrying changes” in the level of hostilities on the border.
