France announces ‘sanctions’ against 28 ‘extremists’ Israeli settlers.
International pressure increased on Tuesday for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas including the release of hostages, despite threats of attacks on Rafah, the last refuge of more than a million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The talks are reported to be held in Cairo under the supervision of Egypt and the United States.
■ An Israeli delegation traveled to Cairo on Tuesday for new talks with US, Qatari and Egyptian officials on a cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip. The head of the Mossad, David Barnea, and the head of the Shin Bet (internal security department), Ronen Bar, met with the director of the CIA, Richard Burns.
■ Joe Biden has announced that the agreement to release the hostages held in Gaza, accompanied a ceasefire for ‘at least six weeks’ between Israel and Hamas, has been discussed at the moment.
■ Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered the army to prepare a plan to evacuate civilians from Rafah, where he plans to launch a ‘major operation’ and win the war end of Hamas.
■ According to the latest report from the Hamas Ministry of Health, released on Tuesday, February 13, 28,473 people have been killed in Gaza since the start of the war on October 7, 2023. The ministry has reported 133 deaths in the period last 24 hours. Most of the victims are women, young people, and children. Also 68,146 people have been injured since the start of the war.
