Kenyan athlete Kelvin Kiptum has died in a car accident.
Nairobi – The Kenyan athlete, who holds the world record in the long run and was given a place in the upcoming Olympic competition in Paris, Kelvin Kiptum, has died in a car accident, in the west of the country, the police have confirmed.
According to the police, the athlete was driving his car from Kaptagat to Eldoret around five o’clock last night before it overturned and killed him along with his Rwandan coach, Gervais Hakizimana.
Kiptum, became famous at the end of last year in October, after setting a record in the Chicago race, finishing with a time of 2 hours and 35 seconds, beating his fellow Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge’s record of 34 seconds.
