Kenya: Man who committed murder of a girlfriend in US arrested again.

zoneyetu– The police in Kenya have said they have re-arrested a man whose escaped from prison caused a debate in the nation after he was initially arrested on suspicion of killing his lover in the United States.

Kevin Kang’ethe was detained pending extradition to the United States over the death of Margaret Mbitu, whose body was found in an airport parking lot last year but escaped from the police station last week in an inexplicable manner.

The arrest has been confirmed by the police commander in Nairobi Adamson Bungei.

According to Bungei, Kang’ethe was hiding in his relative’s house on the outskirts of Nairobi city, where the police found him on Tuesday evening after a search of several days.

For now, the suspect has been brought to court to answer charges of escaping custody while awaiting extradition to the United States according to security officials.

US and Kenyan authorities had launched a manhunt after Mbitu was found stabbed to death in a car park at Boston’s Logan Airport in November.

A warrant for Kang’ethe’s arrest was issued after he fled the US for the country. to Kenya, where he was arrested at the end of January.

Four police officers, two relatives and the suspect’s lawyer were arrested in connection with his escape.
