TANZANIA TO ZAMBIA

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Hon. Dkt. Doto Biteko together with the Minister of Energy Affairs of Zambia, Hon. Peter Kapala have today held a meeting aimed at discussing the intentions of the Government of Tanzania and Zambia to start the construction of a 24-inch pipeline to transport clean oil from Tanzania to Zambia.

The meeting has taken place on 29 January, 2024 in Dodoma and was attended by the Deputy Minister of Energy, Hon. Judith Kapinga, Secretaries General of the Ministry of Energy, Engineer Felchesmi Mramba, (Tanzania) and Dr. Chisangano Zyambo (Zambia) together with various executives from those ministries and oil management agencies.

Dr. Biteko has said, those ministerial discussions are based on the visit of the president of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan to Zambia in October 2023 where in his talks with the president of Zambia, Hon. Haikande Hichilema discussed about increasing the investment in the oil pipeline of TAZAMA as the pipeline for Now it doesn’t meet requirements due to being 12 inches tall.

“According to the great development in our two countries, the demand for oil has become huge and that is why it is necessary to build another big pipeline that will transport oil from Tanzania since there is a port, this pipeline that will be built next to the TAZAMA Oil pipeline will transport oil also to the southern provinces of Tanzania and so on Reducing transportation costs and giving citizens cheap fuel. ” says Dr. Biteko.
